The purpose of this module is to provide workers the opportunity to develop a further understanding of occupational violence.
It will assist in developing and/or enhancing your own skills in minimising and preventing violence in the workplace.
This module provides you with an opportunity to review your current workplace safety systems and resources around prevention and responses to violence within the workplace.
The module is divided up into 8 units. They include:
Unit 1 - Relevant Legislation and Regulation
Unit 2 – Strategic Planning
Unit 3 - Defining Occupational Violence
Unit 4 – What to Look Out For
Unit 5 – Warning Signs of Client-Initiated Violence
Unit 6 - Managing Aggression
Unit 7 – Prevention Approach to Occupational Violence
Unit 8 – Personal Safety and Protection
Learning Outcomes
At the completion of this module you will:
- Develop an understanding of “What is Occupational Violence”?
- What would contribute to violent or aggressive behaviour?
- Discuss client related violence in the workplace that may be minimised by a number of systems and processes;
- Develop strategies around prevention and response to violence or aggressive behaviour; and
- How to keep us all safe.
