This module has been developed for staff/ volunteers/ carers to develop an understanding why difficult behaviours occur with a person that has been diagnosed with a dementia – type condition.

We will discuss a number of behaviour problems that sometimes accompany dementia condition e.g. Alzheimer’s disease.

We will look at the importance of prevention to minimise the behaviour and the tools we can use to assist.

The module is divided up into 11 units. They include:

Learning Outcomes

At the completion of this module you will:

• develop an understanding of what are dementia related behaviours;

• develop an understanding of the possible causes of difficult behaviour of people with a condition of dementia; and

• develop an understanding the range of communication skills to assist in supporting a person with a condition of dementia.
